Day 2

high above Ralph Bice Lake

High above my campsite, I got a good view of the large island,
near the 620m portage to David Lake

It was a beautiful morning, not a cloud in the sky and a light breeze. After I had breakfast(most likely oatmeal & coffee), I observed the wind and waves again picking up strength on Ralph Bice Lake. Although the wind and waves weren't as strong as the day before, I was reserved about heading out in the canoe solo, so I grabbed my camera and headed into the forest. I gathered what firewood I could, but there wasn't much, the area had already been cleaned out of useable firewood. I found a path that led to a somewhat steep climb up a hill. I guess the climb at about 60m, once at the top, the path continued eastward thru some pines on a somewhat level ground. The trail came to end, where there was a break in the foliage, that give one a great view across the lake. I took several pictures with my camera, no canoe passed by, as I was hoping for one in one of my images, to give an appropriate sense of scale. I merely spent the rest of the day wondering around with my new camera in hand. As sunset approached, the winds died completely and the lake became calm. It was another beautiful night in Algonquin.
