January 5th, 2009: Three new trip-logs posted

First off: A belated Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

I have been offline and with no internet contact for 12 days..thus the late wishes to a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

After 10 months of no new trip-log postings, I've finally had the chance to work on a few trip-logs over the recent holidays. Today I've posted three short trip-logs. Trip-log#18 is a weekend solo trip to Tanamakoon Lake via Cache Lake access#8. Trip-log#22, is of a weekend trip with a friend of mine to Rosebary Lake via Access#2(Tim River). Lastly, is Trip-log#64, another weekend trip, this time meeting up with my friends from the algonquinadventures.com website.

March 28th, 2008: New Algonquin Map posted!

Okay, it's not a "New" map that is posted, rather a new "posting" of an old Algonquin Park Map. Another in a series of Vintage Algonquin Park Maps. The map is the 1922 CNR Algonquin Park Map. The map is in two parts, a front section(map), and a back section(Travel-guide). Both sections are available in actual size and half size downloads. Copyright expired at the end of 1972 and is deemed public domain under Section(s) 12 and 6.1 of the Canadian Copyright Act. Many Thanks goes out to Jeffrey McMurtrie for loaning out the map.
Scanning and subsequent image processing by Mark Rubino. Visit the "Extras" section of the website, to download the free map.

November 13, 2007: Blog site added!

Today I've opened up a blog site, to run alongside the main website Mark's Algonquin Park Sampler. I've added this site, simply to facilitate quicker updates for readers of the main website. The blog runs on a platform independent software, whereas the main website is maintained thru a closed commercial web-authoring application. The blog set-up enables myself to update readers quickly and efficiently, from virtually anywhere, instead of having to be literally chained to my desktop computer, to simply publish site updates.
The posting of photos is much easier and quicker too. There is both a "Photos" and "Slideshows" section, to accommodate both dial-up and high speed users respectively. The "Photos" section being acceisible to anyone, but specially suited for dial-up users. There is currentl a bug in the "Photos" section, as comments will not appear alongside photos.

The blog also supports commenting by guests. One important thing to note is that comments will be held until they are moderated by myself. This is too keep any un-desireable content, foul language and spam off of the blog site. Comments can be held for minutes to hours, until they are processed by myself.

The blog address is <http://www.markinthepark.com/blog/>, as well, "Blog" has been added to the main directory(Nav Bar)on this website.

Sept.15th, 2007: Web-site moved to new host!

At last with great difficulty, my website has been re-located to a new and better host. So far I am quite impressed with the
the service I have recieved, the speed is much quicker, and the various options and support that is offered is quite extensive.
Due to the timing of the move, I was in The Park while the transfer occurred
. Any emails that were sent to <mark@markinthepark.com>,
from Sept.2/07 to Sept.10/07, have been lost and are non-retrivable. If anyone had sent an email during this time frame, please re-send your email, and I'll respond as soon as I can. Unfortunately this means October 1st, as I'm heading back into The Park for two weeks.

On another note, a new video has been added to the "Extras" section of the website, entitled "Everywhere Man".
For a full description and download links head over to the Extras section.

July 23rd, 2007: Website Moving!!

Sometime this week, the website will be moving to a new host. This may mean that the website could be down for a few hours to a day or two, till the domain is transferred and the website is uploaded to it's new home. The new host will provide much more storage space, bandwidth, and flexability to run applications, as will become apparent in the coming months.

May 24th, 2007: Website restored

Recently my domain had been locked by my host, due to a mis-understanding on my host's part. The lack of professionalism by Spacetrend(My host), has lead me to take steps, to insure that this never happens again.
Over the course of the next 6 months, I will be making some changes to the website design and crossing over to a new host. There maybe very minor downtimes, however I want to assure readers that <markinthepark.com> is here to stay.

Dec. 15th, 2006: 1 Triplog & 1 Poem added!

Triplog#21 is a chronicle of a 10 day solo trip thru the Jungles of Algonquin Park in the month of June. Click here to read about it.
Added also, is a poem, that I was asked to contribute by my employer, for their Christmas CD, that they produced for their client base.
The poem is available in mp3 format in the "Extras" section of the website.

I'd also like to express my regret and apologizes for the lack of recent updates and triplogs to the website in 2006.
2006 had been an extremely busy and stressful year, and regrettably, I was unable to devote the necessary time to the website.
It is hoped that 2007 will be kinder to me, enabling me to focus more attention and time to my writing.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

It is only TODAY that I had checked my email on my website, since it's launch on April 24th, earlier this year.
I've got a bit of emails to go thru, and am responding to them as quickly as possible.
Just to let you know, that I'm sorry I've been neglectful in responding to them, and was not purposely 'snubbing' anyone.
With all the trips I've been doing and triplogs, etc...the website email thingy, completely slipped my mind.

Again my apologies.
