Trip-log#75 is now online. This trip-log details a visit to Wilkins Lake in Algonquin Park. Solitude and cold surrounded us as we pitched camp for three nights. To read the trip-log now, click here.
That winter camping is something else! I don’t think I could do it.
But you guys sure have a lot of fun.
Cheers,
Stainless
Just stumbled across your site and I am hooked! My son is based out of Kiosk with the Ranger program and he is having the greatest summer of his life. I am going to show him your blog when he returns as some of the spots you mention are areas they maintain. I’m employed by the Ministry Of Natural Resources and travel to the park often, just wish it was for recreation and not work!
Cheers,
Chris
Mark,
Wow! That looked like an awesome tour!
As I sit here on this rainy wet day, I find myself reflecting back to the one and only time I have winter camped in APP with you Jeff, Mike, Sean, JWolf and JeffP. And after reading this trip log I’m really looking forward to getting back out this winter into the Park and firing up my hot tent! It’s been waaaay too long.
Thanks for an excellent read! Hope to see you this winter - say to hi to the “posse” for me. Later dood..
Shawn
hi Chris,
I know of the junior ranger camp you speak of. Your son is very very lucky to be involved in such a program. Those there that train the young kids and the kids themselves do a fantastic job of keeping the Northern section of The Park (My personal fav.) beautiful. Maybe your son can check in on my fav. campsite for me up there on Maple Lake?
We have a saying down here, “A bad day in The Park is better than a good day at work”. It may not be paradise to you working in APP occasionally, but believe me sir, you are blessed.
Glad you have enjoyed the read
Shawn,
For sure doood, let’s hook-up this winter if we can…the more the merrier!
